Reborn as flowers

This exhibition by Alessandra Genualdo Kingsford explores the concept of reincarnation of the feminine essence. Through a series of floral paintings, Alessandra explores the idea of women being reborn as flowers, a metaphor for resilience and transformation. Flowers, like women, embody strength and fragility, perseverance and vulnerability. Alessandra draws a parallel between the cyclical nature of flowers and the female experience, with the menstrual cycle. The use of a predominantly pink palette further reinforces the association with femininity. This series is deeply personal, reflecting Kingsford's own battle with depression. Through these works, she seeks to reconnect with her feminine identity, finding solace and beauty in the cyclical nature of life, both in the natural world and within ourselves.

“Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical belief that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life's actions. It is derived from Latin and literally means “to take on the flesh again” in other words, “to take on the fleshy (physical) body.” It simply means that we leave one life and go into another; it is all for the sole purpose of soul development and spiritual growth. However, reincarnation implies that the person remains essentially the same, while occupying a new body.” Alessandra Genualdo Kingsford
