Après les fleurs

After years of work in Paris, photographer Nicolas Hrycaj sought solitude and a fresh perspective, venturing south to the volcanic island of Stromboli. The result is ‘Après les fleurs,’ a mesmerizing exploration of fragility and unpredictable beauty. This portfolio presents portraits of flowers found on a volcanic island, captured against the dramatic backdrop of twilight skies and the erupting ‘Iddu’ – the island’s powerful, living volcano. Through intentionally blurred focus, Hrycaj transforms delicate blooms into painterly sensations, inviting you to see beyond the visible and contemplate the fleeting moments that define our existence. Explore this unique visual series where flowers meet the raw forces of nature.

After the Flowers

“Portraits of flowers found on a volcanic island
Here, every day is the last evening of the world.
The island plunges into the void,
Its edges disappear and the night becomes incandescent
The mountain breathes sparks, spits out its vapors
The wind whips it with strong gusts
And the earth always ends up running out of breath.

After the flowers, the night will come,
After the night, the flowers will return.
