A Lyrical Diptych
From the heavy stillness of the depths to the lightness of the surface, discover a sensory dialogue between Sarah Maria Lillig’s evocative poetry and the textured landscapes of Per Adolfsen.
afloat
like strings of silver pearls
winter sunlight
moves across my skin,
unsettled,
almost breathing.
crystalline drops of sky
begin to loosen,
softening as they fall,
leaving behind
a widening trace of light.
to follow it
is to step outward –
into a sky washed in sun,
bordered by treetops
gently swaying,
tilting and nodding
to the hush of the midday breeze,
above a ground
deep with moss.
submerge
mist over the pond
banks so dense
the water is almost veiled,
as if covered
with translucent down.
a pale tip of a foot
dips the line of toes
into velvety emerald green.
slowly, an ivory-coloured body
follows,
clothing bare skin
in dark wetness.
blonde strands, suddenly
stained ebony,
the figure pushes off,
sinking down among the newts
to the bottom.
